Elon Musk said that he has paid $900 million to buy MSNBC in order to stop its harmful programming.

Recent claims suggesting that Elon Musk has acquired MSNBC for $900 million to halt its “toxic programming” are unfounded. Investigations reveal no credible announcements from Musk or reputable news outlets confirming such a transaction.

In November 2024, Musk did engage in online banter regarding the potential purchase of MSNBC. Responding to a post by Donald Trump Jr. that encouraged him to buy the network, Musk replied, “How much does it cost?”

Despite this exchange, Comcast, MSNBC’s parent company, has no intentions of selling the network. The company is proceeding with plans to spin off its NBCUniversal cable networks, including MSNBC, into a separate entity. A Comcast spokeswoman stated, “We are looking forward to the planned spin of our cable networks, which will create a new company owned by our shareholders—none of these assets are for sale.”

Given these developments, the narrative of Musk purchasing MSNBC lacks substantiation. It’s essential to verify such claims through reliable sources before accepting them as fact.
